Jon is the co-founder of Muse Hair and Beauty and a pillar of the business for 20 years. He is a hairdressing expert who always goes the extra mile to make sure his clients are happy, bringing energy, passion and positivity to everything he does.
As well as having excellent creative skills and attention to detail, Jon is always 100% focussed on his client. There are no half measures so you can be sure of the best customer service and a fabulous hair cut and colour.
Jon has an extensive list of long-standing loyal clients, many of whom continue to travel long distances for an appointment.

Martin is the co-founder of Muse Hair and Beauty and has been one of the pillars of the business for 20 years. He is an expert hairdresser with a natural flair for styling and creating new looks.
Not only that, but Martin is very entertaining and brings a smile to everyone's face! He is loved by his clients and team alike and has an extensive list of very loyal and dedicated clients so you may need to wait a few weeks for an appointment.
It's fair to say that Martin is the first to spot new trends and techniques and to bring them into the salon. In fact, there genuinely isn’t anything he can’t do - his colour, haircuts and technical support skills are fantastic.

Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? I love doing contemporary textured haircuts. I love doing this because it’s technical and creative
What do you love about being a hairdresser? I love hairdressing because you meet so many interesting people and no two days are the same
Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? I’m inspired by music, art, my colleagues, Antony Mascolo, Effi Davies, Cos Sakkos
What is your ultimate ambition? My ambition is to always keep up with the latest haircuts
Tell us something about you that would surprise others People would be surprised that I was a finalist at the British hairdressing awards. They also might be surprised to discover that I jumped off the Tyne Bridge!
How would you describe yourself in three words? Young at heart.
Say hi to our Director & Head of Colour, Lauren Ainge, who tells us a little bit about herself and why she loves colouring hair.
In what year did you qualify to become a colourist? 2008.
Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? All colour! but I am probably renowned for balayage and pre-lightened services. I love all colour work in general because I enjoy the science and technicality that comes with it. Seeing the end result of a colour service is very satisfying.
What do you love about being a hairdresser? What I love about being a hairdresser is the freedom to express your creativity, artistic skills and individuality. Also being responsible for a client looking and feeling good about themselves can be quite euphoric!
Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? I am a L’Oreal girl through and through and the brand itself inspires me because they are so innovative, technical and world-leading in the future of hairdressing.
What is your ultimate ambition? To win the L’Oreal Colour Trophy.
Tell us something about you that would surprise others. I've done a skydive for charity.
How would you describe yourself in three words? Passionate, dedicated, perfectionist.
Let us introduce you to our Creative Director & Educator, Nikki Holland, who tells us about her passion for hair in this quick-fire Q&A.
In what year did you qualify to become a stylist? I qualified in 2012 and have worked at Muse for the last 12 years.
Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? My favourite styles to create are bridal hair and a sharp graduated Bob. I absolutely love creating both these styles as they have so much structure and are highly personalised to the individual client.
What do you love about being a hairdresser? I absolutely love being creative within my job as not one service is the same. I also find passing on my hairdressing knowledge when teaching the apprentices in our in house academy extremely rewarding.
Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? I get inspiration from my fellow team members and also seeing new and exciting techniques within the hairdressing industry that I can try for myself.
What is your ultimate ambition? My ultimate ambition would be to open an education academy at some point in my career.
Tell us something about you that would surprise others Before I chose to pursue my career in hairdressing I almost signed onto a motor vehicle mechanic course. I am 100% sure that I chose the right one in the end!
How would you describe yourself in three words? If I could describe myself in three words I would say I am patient, organised and reliable.
Let us introduce you to our Senior Stylist & Educator, Hettie Grantham, who shares her passion for educating other hairdressers alongside cutting & styling hair.
In what year did you qualify to become a stylist? I qualified in 2015/2016.
Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? My all-time favourite part of my job is teaching and being an educator to our apprentices. I love doing bridal hair or hair ups. I love being creative and trying new things, and being able to be a massive part of someone’s special day. I love cutting gents hair and graduated bobs/ short ladies hair, I love the detail these cuts contain and I find them more exciting and interesting. I also enjoy doing Kerastraights. I find them very therapeutic and I love seeing the transformation. People also say I create a great balayage.
What do you love about being a hairdresser? Being able to pass my knowledge/ skills on to our apprentices. Making people feel good. Transforming hair and being creative.
Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? Social media and observation in daily life are where I get inspiration. Knowing I make people feel good and give them confidence.
What is your ultimate ambition? To complete my teaching qualification. To expand on the teaching side of things. My ultimate ambition would be to move into mainly teaching and a managerial role with a hairdressing day or two for cutting.
Tell us something about you that would surprise others I love to up-cycle furniture and objects, to give them a new lease of life and be creative. I love to help my partner at the farm and get stuck in whenever I can.
How would you describe yourself in three words? I couldn't choose three so I went for four! Loyal, Enthusiastic, Artistic / Creative, Caring.
Calista has come up through the ranks at Muse Hair and Beauty Salon, completing her apprenticeship in record time under the guidance of our salon educators.
The pinnacle of her apprenticeship was being a finalist in the National Hairdressing Federation’s Apprentice of the Year, a national competition entered by thousands of hairdressing apprentices. Calista made it through to the top six!
Calista is passionate about hairdressing and is quickly building a good strong client base.
Co-owner Jon says: “Calista is so lovely, calm and focussed. She works really hard to give her clients what they want and she really cares. I admire Calista’s zen-like calm and love how she takes so much care in whatever she does."
Libby is an amazingly successful graduate stylist who completed her hairdressing apprenticeship with us here at Muse Hair & Beauty.
She is a complete natural who seems to pick up all aspects of hairdressing with ease. Even so, she still works exceptionally hard and is always eager to learn new skills.
Libby is passionate and driven to achieve. She is creative in her work, very precise and has incredible attention to detail. She is fantastic at hair ups, highlighting and methodical cutting.
Co-founder Jon says: “I love working with Libby. She is always so super positive and cheerful and makes everyone around her smile. Libby delivers a high standard of work too - it’s like she has been a hairdresser for years."
Meet our Apprentice, Will Jones, who is looking forward to qualifying in the summer of 2021 with his NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing.
Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? I enjoy creating clean icy blonde colours and modern haircuts, most of all I enjoys making clients and others smile.
What do you love about being a hairdresser? I love being a hairdresser because it’s an industry that keeps on top of all the latest trends and this is something I really enjoy.
Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? What inspires me the most is the modern and contemporary hair collections released by many of the leading hair brands across the globe.
What is your ultimate ambition? My ultimate ambition is to be the best at what I do and to some day in the future have my own salon.

Say hi to our Beauty Therapist, Jenna Bourge, who qualified in 2020. Here she tells us a bit about herself and what she loves about being a Beauty Therapist.
Which beauty treatment do you absolutely love doing? Lash lift & brow lamination. I enjoy the process and seeing the before and after results.
What do you love about working at the salon? Working with such a lovely group of people
Which 3 things would you take with you if you were stranded on a desert island? Lipgloss, a book that my dad wrote and an inhaler!
Tell us something about you that would surprise others. I completed my grade 8 in singing.
How would you describe yourself in three words? Creative, hardworking & caring.
Meet our Beautician & Nail Technician, Nardia Morgan, who tells us about herself and her passion for beauty therapy.
In what year did you qualify in beauty? I qualified in 2003 for beauty and trained with nsi ( Nail Systems International) in 2004.
Which beauty treatment do you absolutely love doing? I have two favourites. First is acrylic nails, I love transforming short or bitten nails into beautiful hard-wearing nails that people are proud to show off. Second is pedicures for the same reason the transformation you can see happening is amazing, also feet are very important to look after.
What do you love about working at the salon? The salon is professional, clean and dedicated to its customers. Staff are friendly and fun and support each other.
Which 3 things would you take with you if you were stranded on a desert island? My acrylic nail kit, sun cream and cocktails.
What is your ultimate ambition? To watch my children grow up to be successful and happy. And to have my own salon or perhaps become a beauty teacher.

Meet our Salon Manager Helen Burrows who has worked at Muse for more than 17 years in a variety of roles. During busy periods, you will often see Helen on reception as the welcoming face of our salon.
What do you love about working at Muse? I love meeting people and helping our clients
Who inspires you to create fabulous hair? My family and colleagues inspire me to be the best I can be and work for the goals we have set ourselves.
What is your ultimate ambition? My ultimate ambition is to see my children settled and happy in their adult life and to travel the world.

How long have you been a receptionist? Since August 2020. I was working in the hospitality industry before.

What is your ultimate ambition? To have a stable family unit - and a good work-life balance.
